Renovations are in a sense, restorations of a sort, and involve studying what
portions of the structures need to be replaced, refurbished and or renewed. Followed by proper selection of the materials and finishes needed to faithfully
restore the structures to their former state.
Historic homes restored to their original state by restoring all of the original
structures are formally classified as renovations. Atlanta has many projects of this nature in operation at any given time. Where as an historic home converted to a bed and breakfast would qualify as a
remodeling project, since the use is being altered
In Atlanta renovations and remodeling are terms that are often used
interchangeably. In fact renovation proper, means to restore to a former better or renewed state.
Whereas remodel means to alter the use of a space with new structures or
materials.
